One upon a time, I was sick with a serious ulcer, without a job, deeply in debt, and very worried about what the future held for my wife and me. At that time, I met a man who was in extreme financial difficulty, about to lose his business and life savings, and faced mounting uncertainty about feeding his large family and paying his employees. By comparison he was much worse off than I was; and yet, peace and joy were written all over his face and he wasn't apprehensive or troubled like me.
I asked him to explain. He told me God was in control of his life and had promised to provide everything he needed. He held great hope and expectations about his future because God Himself was the captain of his ship. He encouraged me to trust God and ask Him to take over the controls of my life and let Him steer because God knows where the hidden shoals and hazards are and can see the coming storms, so that He alone can safely navigate and bring me to a safe harbor.
That very evening I came to understand that God was missing in my life and He wanted to help me. I asked Him to come into my life and direct the course of my future. He did so, and that has made all the difference. I learned through this that God uses even the serious difficulties and situations we face for good and that He is fully capable and willing to help us, and to direct and guide our lives, if only we ask Him to.
God bless you and prosper you, according to His perfect will, as you walk in His light and His love!
