I believe it was J. Vernon McGee who said he was so glad God had saved him when he was younger, because if God had to save him now - He might reconsider. Of course he was kidding, but was pointing out that since becoming a Christian, and studying God's Word, he had come to realize just how much a sinner he was in light of God's standard of perfection, His Son Jesus Christ.
It is a wonderful truth that God's mercy, forgiveness and salvation are available to every person, no matter what or how many sins they may have committed. When we come to God, through faith in Jesus our Savior, He forgives all of our sins and gives us His gift of eternal life. Thank you LORD, that your love, mercy and grace to your children endure forever!!
But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7
